Organized Mosquito Control in Texas
With 254 counties, Texas is a large and diverse state when it comes to mosquito surveillance and control. These activities are generally related to the population of the community (city or county) and the potential threat of mosquito-borne disease or nuisance biting.
Larger communities tend to have city and/or county level mosquito surveillance and control activities. Smaller communities with mosquito issues may have seasonal employees who perform mosquito control as needed on a part-time basis.
Communities where mosquito-borne and nuisance mosquitoes are of low concern may not fund any type of mosquito surveillance or control. On occasion, homeowner associations conduct mosquito control activities as part of their community program.
To find out what is in your community, contact your city, county, or homeowner association officials for more information.
